LAUGHLIN, NV – October 27, 2016 – Every September for the past six years, Aquarius Casino Resort employees have collected and donated non-perishable food items to benefit local families and children who struggle with hunger every day.
This worthy philanthropic tradition and friendly competition between Aquarius departments for the entire month of September continues to inspire team members to give back to their community and to feel great about giving to those who are less fortunate.
“Our team members continue to unselfishly step up to make sure the families in our community are taken care of during the holidays and throughout the year. I couldn’t be more proud of them for their efforts,” said Aquarius Casino Resort General Manager Sean Hammond.
Aquarius team members collected a total of 15,083 non-perishable food items such as canned soup, boxed cereal and more, weighing a total of 6,505 pounds. Food items were then donated to William G. Bennett Elementary School in Laughlin, NV; Golden Valley Food Bank in Golden Valley, AZ; and Food for Families in Bullhead City, AZ.
“Food for Families would like to thank Aquarius Casino and every single person that was involved in this food drive.” said Food for Families Executive Direction Sheria Liles. “Food for Families and the clients that we serve are extremely grateful for all that you do to help the community.”
Aquarius’ General and Administration department took first place for the first time by collecting 6,841 items. The title was previously held for the last five years by Casino Operations which took second place with 4,084 items; Food and Beverage took third place with 2,387 items; fourth place was Marketing with 996 items and the Hotel division collected 775 items, which put them in fifth place in the competition.
“Once again The Aquarius team came to Bennett Elementary with such generosity that all our food shelves were filled with the much needed items our students’ needed.” said William Bennett Elementary school clerk Tammy Blessing “Without the help of our community, many students would not have the food to help them over the weekends.”
