LAUGHLIN, NV – March 8, 2017 – Twenty Five Aquarius team members, including Aquarius General Manager Sean Hammond laced up their running shoes and climbed all 108 floors of the iconic Stratosphere Tower in Las Vegas on February 26, 2017 as part of the extreme stair climb Scale the Strat to benefit the American Lung Association in Nevada.
This was the 9th year the event was held at Aquarius Casino Resort’s sister property The Stratosphere Casino, Hotel & Tower, with participants scaling all 108 floors and 1,455 steps inside the tower to help fund the American Lung Association (ALA) in Nevada’s mission of preventing lung disease and promoting lung health.
“Every year our participation grows and so does our fundraising effort,” said Sean Hammond. “This year two team members really stood out in their fundraising efforts, Christine Owens, Director of Player Development, who raised $1,483 and Steve Fields, Director of Slot Operations raised $1,020. Collectively Team Aquarius raised $5,973; more than half of the Stratospheric Scalers team’s combined $9,208 which really ups the bar for next year!”
“Year after year, the team from Aquarius Casino Resort steps up to the challenge to tackle the iconic Stratosphere Tower to support our mission of healthy air and lungs,” said Kristina Crawford, Executive Director of American Lung Association in Nevada. “This year, Scale the Strat set every kind of record imagined and the team from Aquarius was a huge part of that success. On behalf of those we serve who struggle to breathe, an incredible thank you for their continued commitment to our community."
“It gets better every year with the enthusiasm and participation of the Stratospheric Scalers team members made up of employees, family and friends. As the host team and #1 in total amount raised this year, we are all already looking forward to celebrating Scale’s 10th Anniversary next year by having a record number of participants and fundraising events to help the ALA continue their fight in curing lung disease”, said Audrey Shumansky, captain of the Stratospheric Scalers Team.
“Being a part of team Aquarius at the Scale the Strat event was a fantastic experience! I can't imagine a better way to team build and contribute as a community to a fantastic cause. My staff and I are gearing up for next year and can't wait to join in on the fun again! Thank you to American Casino Entertainment Properties for hosting such an incredible and memory lasting event!!” said Robert Barge, Operating Partner and Owner of Mad Dog Fitness in Bullhead City, Arizona.
Don Walker, Owner of Bullhead Fitness Club, stated “that it was an exhilarating, challenging, painful, and exciting event that ended up being the best thing he had done in a long time and can’t wait until next year.”
